The surgeon prepared a template, a well, removed the wisdom tooth, transplanted the tooth, and splinted it. And 2 weeks later the patient came for depulpation of this tooth (root canal treatment), which is necessary to do in autotransplantation, in order to avoid infection of the pulp (nerve) remaining in the tooth. Since it is not possible to keep the nerve viable in the transplanted tooth.
After anesthesia, a rabberdam is placed. The adjacent tooth and the tooth requiring treatment are isolated. A careful access to the cavity of the grafted tooth is made. Remnants of pulp are removed.
The working length of the canals is determined. The canals were mechanically and medically treated and obturated by hot condensation of gutta-percha. Access to the cavity of the tooth was closed with a restoration.
All treatment was carried out under a microscope.
After 3 months the tooth adapted in the bone. The grafted tooth was successfully engrafted and became immobile.
Measuring the working length of the channels. The metal tyre is visible.
