Upon examination, we found that the discoloration was caused by an old porcelain-fused-to-metal crown on a central incisor. Over time, a grayish margin had appeared near the gum line, and the tooth no longer matched the adjacent teeth in color or shape.
We proposed a comprehensive aesthetic treatment in the smile zone, which included replacing the old crown and correcting the gum line for better symmetry.
- First, we performed minor gum contouring to align the gingival margins.
- Next, we used digital shade analysis and a customized ceramic “recipe” to ensure a perfect match.
- We fabricated a new all-ceramic crown without a metal core, eliminating the gray effect and achieving maximum naturalness.
As a result, the patient’s smile became harmonious: the color and shape were balanced, and the gums gained a proper, aesthetic contour.
Even a single dark tooth can greatly affect the perception of a smile. With modern techniques and a personalized approach, it is possible to fully restore aesthetics in such localized cases.
