Analysis of the initial situation:
- Loud clicking sound on the right side when opening the mouth
- Distal position of the mandible
- Painful palpation
Diagnosis:
- Condylography: therapeutic position identified
- Treatment: splint therapy
During splint therapy:
- No clicking occurred
- Muscles relaxed
- Comfort was only achieved while wearing the splint
Installation of a bracket system and positioning overlays to transfer the therapeutic position of the mandible (in accordance with the position during splint therapy). This allows for tooth movement while maintaining the correct mandibular position. During this period, the patient wears elastics to achieve proper occlusion in the new position.
Removal of the bracket system.
Placement of retainers on the upper and lower jaw.
Nighttime retention aligners.
During the treatment, the anatomy of worn tooth surfaces was temporarily restored. A final refinement is planned, including restorations or veneers.
