Open Bite Treatment with Braces

The patient presented with an anterior open bite. Even when the dental arches were fully brought together, the anterior teeth did not contact, while occlusal contact was maintained only in the posterior region.

A fixed orthodontic appliance was placed to correct tooth position and the bite. During treatment, the patient also wears orthodontic elastics (rubber bands) to help establish an appropriate relationship between the upper and lower dental arches.

At the current stage, significant positive progress is already evident: the upper teeth have begun to overlap the lower teeth, and multiple cusp–fossa contacts have developed in the posterior region.

Before Treatment, the Front Teeth Did Not Meet

Initially, an open space remained between the anterior teeth even when the teeth were in occlusion.

The clinical situation included:

The primary treatment objective is to correct tooth position and establish appropriate anterior contact.

Bite Correction with Fixed Braces

A fixed orthodontic appliance (braces) was placed for comprehensive correction of tooth position and occlusion.

Treatment is aimed at:

Orthodontic treatment is currently ongoing.

Orthodontic Elastics for Bite Closure

During treatment, the patient also wears orthodontic elastics (rubber bands) according to the orthodontist’s instructions.

The elastics are used as part of the current orthodontic mechanics to improve the relationship between the upper and lower dental arches and support proper bite closure.

Following the prescribed wear schedule for the elastics is an important part of this treatment stage. The patient is compliant with the orthodontist’s recommendations, including the use of elastics.

How the Bite Has Changed During Treatment

Significant positive changes are already visible.

The upper teeth have begun to overlap the lower teeth, indicating progressive correction of the anterior open bite and improvement in the relationship between the dental arches.

At the same time, multiple cusp–fossa contacts have developed between the posterior teeth. These contacts reflect an improvement in functional occlusion and contribute to a more balanced distribution of occlusal forces.

At the current stage:

Orthodontic treatment is still in progress, so these changes represent an intermediate result rather than the final treatment outcome.

Open Bite Treatment at DentalDate

Anterior open bite involves not only individual tooth position but also the way the upper and lower dental arches contact each other.

At DentalDate Dubai, the orthodontic approach is selected according to the individual clinical situation. During open bite treatment with fixed braces, orthodontic elastics may also be used to help improve the relationship between the dental arches and establish appropriate tooth contacts.

In this case, treatment is still ongoing. The current progress demonstrates correction of the anterior open bite and the development of more functional occlusal contacts.
